Subscription Drive Update …Here are the headlines from my/our Subscription Drive:
The good news is we’ve already obliterated my personal record for new paid subscriptions in 24 hours. In 24 hours, the number of paid subscriptions has grown by 28. But this deserves a caveat as three of my subscribers purchased “Founders-Level” paid subscriptions (which are $250/year!)
As these subscriptions equal five normal subscriptions (at $50/year), one might say I’ve achieved the equivalent of 43 paid subscriptions (28 + 15).
My gross annual revenue has also exploded. In 24 hours, due to the generosity and support of my subscribers, I grossed $2,220, most from paid subscriptions (and three “tips” from ko-fi).
Last night, I shared the good news with my wife. In my first 12 months as a Substack author, our family grossed $7,000 from paid subscriptions. In ONE DAY, that figure increased by $2,200!
In other words, my subscribers - in 24 hours - gave me a pay raise of 31.4 percent!
My ratio of paid subscribers to total subscribers has also increased from 3.5 percent to 4.2 percent.
Of course, we’re far from reaching 1,000 paid subscribers, which is the level that would make anyone who follows “significant media events” stand up and notice.
But I still don’t rule out such a stunning result for one reason only. My article announcing this initiative reached about 2,800 people and only 1,663 of my actual subscribers. My “open rate” on this article is 36 percent, meaning I still haven’t reached 64 percent of my total subscribers.
(Typically, my “open rate” on stories is around 43 percent, which is probably standard for Substack authors.)
For this project to have any chance of success, I always knew this appeal would have to go “viral” or semi-viral. That is, enough people would have to share this article and/or promote it with their own posts, that we reached, say, 100,000 Substack readers.
If just 8 percent of these Substack readers and supporters were willing to spend $6, we’d demonstrate that a result everyone thought was impossible was, in fact, possible.
I don’t know how this might happen - or who might make it happen - but if this campaign does go viral, we still might shock the world.
Thank you to everyone who has supported this project. I don’t mind admitting that one of my main goals is to achieve financial independence or “peace of mind,” which, in my case, would be possible when my writing produced an annual income of around $40,000.
It’s sad that so many people who might be cash-strapped themselves are being asked to support independent journalists, but this is really the only way “our side” is going to continue to have a growing army of journalists to battle the mainstream media stenographers who are being paid nice salaries.
As one of my favorite Substackers always writes - “Onward!” I have not yet begun to fight!
Maybe today’s story - which summarizes just a fraction of the stories I’ve produced in the past year - will give “Team Rice” another burst of momentum.
I really appreciate the numbers you present here and it gives a good sense of some of the finer details - a few comments if I may:
1. I think typically a 30-35% "open" rate is what I also normally have (you indicated 36% on the original article I reckon), but I'm curious how this number is calculated, but in a way I don't think it really matters that much - what matters is if the word is getting out.
2. Irregardless (I like that word even if some consider it redundant), I suspect the roughly 2/3rds of subscribed members you haven't reached are less likely to open you message in general, but some of them will, but the response will not be the same as the early "adopters".
3. This is why during these TV marathons, they had to provide some "entertainment" to keep the audience who hadn't made up their mind about a fiscal contribution yet engaged - if you lose engagement, then that is one less possible subscriber! (ha, ha).
4. I think this whole exercise is fascinating and already it is a win-win, and so I'm not trying to buffer expectations, but it is usually the very beginning and very end when things happen in earnest, and so I'd suggest some easy cruising for the next few days and then near the end of the effort ramp it up a bit if you think that might facilitate more subscribers!
~~
Much thanks for your efforts and I'm happy I chose to contribute to them.
Thanks BK. The "open rate" is interesting to watch. Mine usually ends up at right about 43 percent, but it takes a couple of days to get there.
If Citizen Free Press picks up a story, I'm going to get tens of thousands of reads. If they don't, I might max out at 6,000 reads. I try to plug my articles at other sites and I guess this helps increase my readership.
If I could get just 6,000 reads and 10 percent of these readers bought a subscription, I'd be almost home. 3 to 4 percent seems to be the iron-clad "paid" percentage. So the only way to get to 1,000 paid subscribers (per the "normal method") is to grow your site 25,000 readers and hope you get 4 percent paid.. I'm heading that way, but at this rate, it might take a couple of years ... and I would be so tired by then!
P.S. When people like you upgrade to the Founders Level - that makes a huge difference.
If everyone could get 100 Founders-Level Supporters (at $250/year) that's $25K a year. You could almost live off that.
If you had 5,000 subscribers, 100 at this level would be just 2 percent of your subscribers. There are probably far more than 100 people who can easily afford a gift of $250.
That was a good addition for Substack to offer. I also like how people can make what ever ko-fi donation they want. I had one Ko-fi "tip" of $250.
"The only answer is that the vast majority of these victims were not dying from a novel virus, but from iatrogenic protocols and government-created hysteria and panic."
The panic was necessary for the lockdowns, the lockdowns were necessary for the mail-in ballots, the mail-in ballots were necessary for the Biden 'win', the Biden 'win' was necessary for the vaccine mandates.
Jeffrey Tucker and others at Brownstone keep writing about who persuaded Trump to go along with the lockdowns and push the Warp Speed Vaccine. Trump must not have known he sealed his fate when he agreed to all of that. The mail-in ballots - A Covid mitigation measure - got him.
Why wouldn't they? The GOP has done fuck-all to prevent them from stealing it the exact same way they stole 2020 and 2022. (A cynical person might even suspect that's on purpose!)
Yes but here’s the deal, Sim: had Trump remained in office, NONE or virtually none of the libtards would have taken the poison because it was “Trump’s vaccine”. Remember all of them from LGB-FJB, Kneepads Harris & all of the rest on down expressing skepticism of it “because TRUMP!”? And then when Resident Pedo Joe “won”, the Vax suddenly became the blood of Christ for their “religion”.
It’s actually a pretty delicious schadenfreude if you think about it.
EXACTLY! How many MILLIONS of people would have gone unjabbed? And on the flip side, how many people who refused would have got it if Trump had told them to? (Not many, I'm guessing, but it's just a guess)
I actually think there were quite a few that took Trump’s “beautiful” vaccine because he said so. I’m sorry for them. There are also many who felt they had no choice, including my 2 20-something boys. I’m terrified for them. But zero sympathy for the people who would never have taken it under Trump (who would never have mandated it) but then under Bite-me decided it was “his” & turned into vile harpies about masking, jabbing & all the rest
As I wrote in my email to you. I am pleased to be able to support you. Finding substack and writers like you over the last few years has helped me immensely in this crazy captured world.
I am grateful for the courage you and others have had in the face of the pressure to cave. Without a free and independent press, we are lost as a Nation. Keep up the great work.
Thank you, Dennis. I'm saving these testimonials from paid subscribers. I'm going to publish as many of them as I can. I think, taken together, they would make a powerful statement.
Always enjoy how you connect those dots Bill . And speaking of JT here in xiwefferland of the not so proud north , jt's father ( educated by the jesuits ) ,wanted to erect a statue of Mao outside a Montreal University back in the day. In art school, I wrote a paper on Mao and how everything during that cultural revolution was totally upside down and backwards : as one example : street signs that indicated turn right were made to say turn left . I find myself somehow trying to navigate just such a world with information like the switching of street signs not far from that reality when we are made to believe what the authorities say rather than trusting our eyes and gut. It seems as if everything out of the Mao playbook is certainly playing out here with so many historical similarities .
Thanks, Linelle. I was trying to show how a lot of these dots do connect ...if you just pay attention and think about everything that's happened (or didn't happen but should have happened).
As you know Bill, the ability to connect dots or even read these days , will have you labelled a conspiracy person . Having little meetings of "3 whole people" to share what we aren't allowed to talk about . Two of us are old and vocal and have been reading about the world takeover via covid since those early 20's . The other person has had 2 shots into the stuff _ had to take them or get fired - you know, no one made you do it gas lighting idea- and she wanted to hear what we had to say about what is going on . It is becoming clear to me, that maybe the information is really depressing but true , even for people like this other woman who wants to know . We ( the old dolls) have had years of reading and trying to understand and for the most part, I think there is a temptation for those who took the stuff and got others , kids included, to take it , that it is horrendous to contemplate they may have been wrong . I think going forward with anyone who is curious ,I have to "self censor" how much and what to say - Tincture of Time ...unfortunately maybe too late . I've been going to the offices of the MP and MPPS in our area with letters and discussion paper about so called health canada taking over our alternative choices and although I don't expect any answers to my questions in my personal letter , it felt good just to try and do something - a protest of one ...
Keep doing what you are doing. At some point, there's a tipping point. If we keep attacking these points of vulnerability, one missile might get through (just like Luke's missile got through in the first Star Wars!). I keep writing that we just need one "truth bomb" to really detonate ... then everyone would start questioning all the other lies.
The whole House of Cards could crumble much faster than people think is possible.
Thank you for your efforts your intelligence morals and patriotism it has not been lost on people like myself! With immense gratitude I hope you keep up the fight. I know it’s not easy surreal at times what is going on in this supposed Constitutional Republic!
As I've indicated before, the thing you wrote which most benefitted my own thinking, was the piece on why Ed Dowd would be wrong that these numbers couldn't be covered up. "Insurance companies and media are covering up all-cause deaths."
Now, notice the "amazonaws" in that link - does that mean substack images reside on "Amazon" servers and if so, I wonder - is there a backup? Moreover I wonder what obligations does Amazon, assuming this is the case have to those who utilize their servers? Are they allowed to cut off links?
Now above and beyond that this information is provided in the link: Resolution of the image - 1224x1632 - how many pixels is that and that is not a trick question.
"fetch" was in the link - what is that? Does "fetch" have anything to do with "Stripe"? I doubt it, but who is fetching what I wonder.....I think there is a lot of info in that link and I suspect SubStack does reside on Amazon servers - one can't help but wonder - is that a vulnerability?
Why not have your own servers is what I would do if I owned the company - self-sufficient and whatnot.
AWS does mean Amazon servers. Amazon has enormous storage capacity and hosts probably close to half of the internet. During the trucker protest and J6 we saw that companies like AWS did cut off servers and services to people they disagreed with. So, yes it is a vulnerability.
Fetch just means the computer is asking AWS to send the image. It’s normal.
