2025 is starting off as a disaster for this Substack author.

I've already lost 13 paid subscribers since the end of November 2024. In 2024, I peeked at 304 paid subscribers (in late November). I'm now down to 291.

In the first year of my Substack, I averaged 20 to 25 new paid subscribers per month. In the last nine months, I'm losing subscribers every month or lucky to stay the same. But 13 lost subscribers in a matter of weeks is completely new for me.

I do appreciate the people who are sticking with me and helping me with Ko-Fi donations.

UPDATE/MORE METRICS: According to current Substack metrics, My “30-day (page) views” are 121,000 - which is an increase from the prior 30 days of 12,300 (an increase in readers of more than 10 percent).

However, in the past 30 days I’ve lost, net, nine paid subscribers. (I'm now down to 290 "paid subscribers" after I peeked at 304).

In the past 30 days, my “gross annualized revenue” projection is down $550.

So ... my readership levels grew by more than 10 percent (also, my “likes” and “reader comment” numbers seem to be solid) ... but my paid subscriber and revenue numbers are dropping like a lead balloon.

One of my take-aways: I think Substack has peeked as a forum for alternative journalism and commentary.

I also recently noted that Robert Reich, one of the most liberal and “wacko” commentators on the planet, has more than 500,000 subscribers on Substack (and must have at least 20,000 paid subscribers if 4 percent of his total subscribers are "paid." This would mean Reich is making approximately $1 million/year from paid Substack subscribers).

Take-away No. 2: The liberal Substack All-Stars seem to be doing great.

I did pare down quite a few subscriptions this last week mostly based on quality and quantity of content. (Yours wasn’t one 😉) I have one paid that I really need to let go for lack of content but I’m such a big fan and have gotten quite a few comped months by recommending his stack to others I just haven’t done it but probably will unless it picks back up. One thing to do if you want a free month or two is hit that restack button and include a note. Many paid subs will comp you a month for x number of new readers. It’s a good way to support content you like AND help yourself out.

Thanks for the tip. I've never been clear how the "re-stack" button works or what its purpose is.

Bill,

Some of my own trimming has been time, some lack content, and some need to reduce financial expenses. In my case, too many have converted to podcasts, which I do not have as much time for. I prefer to read.

Keep the faith. Do the work. Money will follow.

Happy New Year

Regards,

Thank you for your support, Dennis. You've been one of my greatest supporters for a long time. On the plus side, my article "reads" or "page view" numbers are pretty good and I'm almost at 7,000 total subscribers.

Some of this may have to do with Trump's victory Bill, which by extension, is OUR victory. Prior to the election you were one of several strong voices crying in the wilderness, a strong voice spreading a message that was not being told in the MSM. Trump's victory in November put many people at ease, they said, "Okay, people got the message, and Trump and RFKJR are going to right the wrongs of the previous administration." Whether my opinion is valid or not, who knows?

What this subscriber would like to see is a "Roadmap To Success" so to speak. I need an outline or model to help me keep score. What needs to be done and how good are we doing? In reading about RFKJR he seems to be a man of many passions. Food safety and vaccination safety seem to be at the top of the list. What I don't know is what kind of opposition does he have to common sense measures? I understand that McDonald's french fries have 17 ingredients in the U.S. but have 4 in Europe? Why?Who controls that? Hows does the FDA work? With simple majorities in the House and Senate can we change anything or will it take Democratic votes?

Does RFKJR have any inherent personality traits or even "flaws" that could hinder his success? That is what I would like to know and you are the man for the job!

Bill Rice, Jr.'s avatar

Great questions, Jeffrey. It also seems to me that many of the points RFK, Jr. tries to highlight should not be that controversial. Or, re-stated, many people seem to intuitively sense that "something" has changed with our food - and this is making more people sick or have "chronic illnesses." Identifying what's really making more people sick or affecting their quality of life should be one of THE priorities of any real public servants.

However, we all know that RFK, Jr. and the MAHA movement is going to further energize and mobilize all the wrong enemies.

If RFK, Jr. and Trump can make a few substantive changes this would be very significant and positive development ... I'm like you; ,moving forward, I'm curious to see what happens that's new or different ... if anything.

Well, even more specifically Bill, what has RFKJR had to say about the "white clots" and more specifically have these been analyzed by any of the "major health" authorities in our country? Hopefully in two weeks (14 days) will begin to have a better understanding of where we stand and where we are heading.

More on Biden's one press conference of 2024 - at a summit for leaders of NATO ...

The first journalist Biden was told to call on was Jeff Mason of Reuters, who asked two questions including:

“…what concerns do you have about Vice President Harris’s ability to beat Donald Trump if she were at the top of the ticket?”

In his response, Biden promptly committed one of his now infamous gaffes:

“Look, I wouldn’t have picked Vice President Trump  to be vice president did I think she was not qualified to be president.

In a later question, Biden called on a reporter for National Public Radio who he called “Asam” when the reporter’s name is Asma.

That was it for Biden press conferences.

In doing a little Internet research for this story, I Googled “White House press conferences” and “White House press conferences in 2024.”

One of the responses that popped up at the top of the page was a 4-minute, 30-second YouTube video of President Biden making remarks after the New Orleans terrorist attack. The headline actually says:

“Joe Biden full press conference on New Orleans attack”

If anyone has time, watch this video and let me know if you think this is a “press conference.”

I watched all of it and, to me, it looks like 4 minutes of the president reading from the teleprompter - and mangling numerous sentences. When he finishes his remarks, one reporter tries to ask one question, but the “president” just turns and ambles stage right off the podium.

To me, Biden looks like the old guy that Tim Conway used to play in the Carol Burnett comedy show … But, according to YouTube, this is an example of a “full press conference.”

Take-away: Someone also changed the definition of a “press conference.”

Aside from Dr. Kevin, there is a cadre of doctors who have been administering a variety of drugs to Biden beginning with Joe’s summer in the basement where he remerged with tighter skin, a no longer furrowed brow and some shiny new chiclet teeth. The weekends in Reheboth Beach have more to do with Biden receiving IV cocktails to address his age related fatigue , cognitive decline and slurred speech. Why Reheboth Beach? Because there is no visitor log. It’s all so deceptively vile. If the tale is ever told….. it’s such a con job on we the hardworking working , tax paying voters of the United States.

I have an old high school friend who was a JAG (?) in the Navy… his connections told him that Biden had some procedure on his eyes so that he could read a teleprompter in daylight… that he has glaucoma and subsequent light sensitivity…. Sometimes his eyes do seem quite black…. 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

Tell me more. My husband and I returned to Milwaukee via plane Friday December 28. It was very foggy drive 50 miles home. By Monday we were both very sick, coughing our lungs out and still not great today. I just figured we got something on the plane. Your comment intrigues me and gives me the willies.

Another thing that begs for someone to write about:

What should be done when the 25th amendment is deliberately not utilized when it should have been?

I kind of wrote about that today. What's the purpose of that Amendment?

If your party's president is a mental or physical wreck, that's okay?

Well, there's the law, and then there's the political will to implement the law. The citizens and their elected representatives who didn't want to do the latter for the most part seem to have been on mainstream media-induced dial tone.

A lot of your common sense questions, Bill re : who is running the place can also be asked of our Canadian people in this political morass . Many celebrating his ( young trudeau as Schwab liked to say ) so called resignation without thinking beyond the words . He'll be doing way more damage behind the scenes because he has stated: " I have more work to do". I would wonder for WHO ... ELSE ?

Suggest it's probably the same in every country: Bank for International Settlements in charge using military apparatus as enforcers.

And you hit the nail right on the head Bill: the president doesn't matter at all. I keep pointing out to people that it doesn't matter that 'Trump won.' The PREP Act was just extended to something like 2029. This covers all the murderers that occurred as a result of Operation Warp Speed, including Trump.

The only thing I will be watching for is if the PREP Act is repealed. If not, it is situation normal with puppets in charge, rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic with the public fighting over identitiy politics while the billionares laugh their asses off.

The fact that we don’t know who is running the show should be alarming to everyone - even the wokest woke morons there are.

I agree with everything you said here except 1 minute thing. Nothing says that the White House Doctor didn’t give a cognitive test - he may of and the fact of how bad it must have been if he did is the basis for the massive coverup and the official stance that it wasn’t done. It also would have provided the means in how to script and how long to let the sham “interviews” go on.

Hi Bill - another thorough summary of the circumstances that have occurred in our country during the last four years. I had to tighten my belt a few months ago but plan on resubscribing in the near future. Perhaps in some cases people have had to do the same. I am sure they will be back in time. I believe grocery prices are a big source of the problem. The bill seems to have almost doubled for the same amount of products.

Thanks for your efforts in helping to shine the light on the world we live in. The "watchdog press" didn't miss anything. They followed their orders. Why allow the realization that the president is just a puppet? Biden could have stayed on the ticket? Harris could have been promoted and become the obvious choice. The election fraud could have been triggered to create a 2020 turnout in 2024. The uniparty expected the opposition to go away after 2020. it didn't and grew to the point it can't be ignored. The strategy is to bring the unrest out into the open. Let trump return but undermine support with the month-long vote counting. Make the world a mess and set him up to fail, getting in his way at every opportunity. When 2026 rolls around, the insurgency is tired and depressed. the election process kicks in and any image of control is lost. by 2028, the movement is demoralized and just wants to focus on family/friends and surviving with what we have left. we realize we were not meant to be on the political playing field. it is a winning strategy for the powers to be and only a minor detour from the plan. not a pretty picture.
