I vacillate - sometimes by the hour - on the question of whether “our side” will prevail in the existential battle for the truth currently being waged across our world.
I decided to write a piece where I list 10 reasons I’m optimistic about the future and 10 reasons I might need to see a psychiatrist to ward off coming depression.
As you will see, I ultimately came up with more reasons to be optimistic than pessimistic. It won’t be easy and the Good Guys are probably trailing by two touchdowns at halftime, but I think truth and justice still have a chance of rallying and defeating the forces of tyranny and temporary insanity.
When you are delivering good and bad news, I’ve always heard you should start with the Bad News first …
Ten Reasons I think the Bad Guys Might Prevail
There’s simply too dang many of them. And they’re all either obtuse or some kind of psychopath or sociopath. By now, the people I’m trying to fight have all become card-carrying “stakeholders” of bogus narratives, each person eager to support the most preposterous storylines.
These same individuals control all the important “truth seeking” institutions and professions. Real investigations that gave us the truth would indict, humiliate or discredit these very people and organizations, so real investigations aren’t going to happen. No investigations are the equivalent of “stay out of jail forever” cards. This takes away some of my side’s best leverage.
If sanity or justice were going to show themselves, they would have already made an appearance.
Many people embrace “the current thing” (aka “the narrative”) because that’s the safest course for them in their careers and/or social networks. It’s dangerous for such people to challenge accepted narratives … so they can’t and won’t do this. It’s hard to “flip” such people so the Bad Guys are likely to stay the course.
The Bad Guys’ leaders behind the curtain seem to be more committed to implementing the rest of their agendas than our side is about implementing our agenda (which, at its core, is: “Leave me alone, you damn fools; let me make my own decisions.”)
The Bad Guys have another key advantage. By now, they know they can be as brazen as they want to be … and nothing bad is going to happen to them. Dissent has been muffled or literally outlawed. Absolute power corrupts absolutely, especially when there’s no Dick Tracy to nab the Bad Guys.
They also know that if they don’t all hang together … they will very-possibly all hang together … so it’s unlikely they will break ranks. While I’m worried about digital currency making it easier for them to steal my money; they are worried about ending up on the wrong end of a pitch fork. When this is one possible end game, you’re going to be more likely to fight like a hyena to death. Marquis of Queensbury rules do not apply.
Money is going to get tighter and these Robber Barrons want their money, which means they are going to need even more control to make sure the serfs don’t take too much of our shrinking economic pie.
Some of these characters actually think they are right - that they know what’s best and that they have to be left alone to save the world. They’ll burn the village to save the village. They’ll vaccinate kids with myocarditis-causing toxins to save the kids. They’ll ban the internal combustion engine (except for their private jets) to save the bicycles, which will save the planet and all its polar bears. Nothing is more frightening than a zealot championing a ridiculous cause.
At least so far, our side doesn’t have the quantity or quality of leaders to stop them.
Fourteen reasons I think the Good Guys will prevail
There’s more of “we the people” than stupid, arrogant, perverted “leaders.”
The truth usually does come out and there are hundreds of thousands if not millions of people who are trying to expose the truth about these people and their faux schemes. Just like Luke Skywalker did, one of us is going to hit the Death Star’s most vulnerable target.
As noted, the other side is led by the obtuse (albeit Ivy League grads who maxed out their SATs). Our side of truck drivers, AC installers and local insurance salesmen possess all the common sense and genuine intelligence. At some point, our leaders will outfox their leaders.
Their side is becoming arrogant and over-confident.They think they are invulnerable, which is good.
The numbers joining our side are growing much faster than the numbers on their side. Nobody is rallying around their battle cry of “More boosters!” That battle cry is indeed being shouted, just fewer and fewer people are listening to it.
God is pulling for our side. I don’t want to say their side is being led by the Dark Prince … but I think their side is being led by the Dark Prince.
At some point, they are going to (excuse my French) piss off the wrong person or groups of people. Our best fighters probably haven’t even joined the fight yet. Once the lies start being exposed, our team is going to be tearing down the locker room door on their way to the second half kickoff.
People care about money and there’s actually money to be made by being on our side. Our side believes in real capitalism not crony capitalism. Our side believes in meritocracy not “club membership.” Our side is going to get tired of letting the 1 percent keep getting all the wealth. To cite one example, a real journalist can make a nice chunk of change exposing crooks and revealing truths, more than some stenographer for the Status Quo can make at some dying Gannett newspaper.
The Bad Guys can’t keep all their lies straight and will eventually start ratting each other out. When you have the truth on your side - or simply want to find out what it is - life is much simpler.
When the stakes are high, the best and brightest - or the most noble among us - usually rise to the occasion. It will take leadership, but those leaders are out there somewhere. Once those leaders frame the issues as they should be framed - it’s us or these totalitarian, freedom-hating, woke, ignoramuses - the Bad Guys will scatter to whatever bug-out shelters they’ve already outfitted in New Zealand.
Their villains are worse than our villains and, for war propaganda purposes, it’s good to have such potentially-hateful villains on the other side. True, Anthony Fauci is today considered by many to be the world’s Most Admired Man. But give it time. Same with the Great and Powerful Bill Gates. Everybody liked and trusted Ike. Joe Biden is no Eisenhower.
12. All trends and observable events prove our side was right all along and their side was wrong … about everything. At some point, who was right and who was wrong will actually matter. Their side is going to say, “Trust me. Wasn’t I right about lockdowns and vaccines? Wasn’t I right when I said Miami Beach would be underwater by 2023? Wasn’t I right when I said Russia hacked that election?” Actually, our side will point this out. Good points, though.
While their side is passionate about taxing carbon, banning cash and mandating mRNA vaccines for cooties and hay fever, our side cares about topics like freedom, liberty and the futures of our children. Our issues are better.
I don’t know about you, but I’m not going to be a part of any losing team.
Final score: Good Guys 14, Bad Guys 10. One point or four points, a win is a win.
Off topic, but I just saw where RFK, Jr. is running for president. This is very exciting to me (and I’m a libertarian-leaning conservative). RFK, Jr’s book The Real Anthony Fauci might be the most important book written in our lifetimes. Here’s a book review I wrote that was picked up by Citizen Free Press. This book review really put my Substack site on the map.

For those who haven’t read the book, here’s another story I wrote that includes 18 vignettes from the book. This will give you a feel for the excellent content in the book:

Good luck to Mr. Kennedy. I might end up putting a DeSantis and a Kennedy sign in my front yard. That should let me neighbors know what's the most important issue to me.
I hope that truth will out & our side win. If/when we do, I think there will still be VERY hard times for our side. If we ultimately prevail (or even if we don’t) it will have been worth it but I can’t say I’m not scared for myself & esp for my kids
