This essay mentioned two examples from my journalism life that might have made a local difference. However, 95 percent of the stories I've written in my career were actually written to make the subjects of my stories happy. These are human interest stories where hopefully someone who did something interesting or noteworthy gets some attention. Or stories that promote upcoming local events that are important to these groups or the community.

It might be a sports story that a mother will save in the family scrapbook or a news story that highlights a significant local event.

These stories matter to people and they matter to the author as well. If a story makes someone smile or is appreciated, you've done something good.

I view these stories as gifts to the subject of the stories (or their appreciative family members) ... and the cliche is true - it's better to give than to receive.

That is, writers receive many payments that are NOT financial.

I liked your story on the golfer with Tourette's. How is he going?

There's a sad epilogue to that story. He was doing fine playing Junior College golf - away from his parents for the first time - and then Covid hit and he couldn't go to practice, classes or have his daily counseling sessions.

He spiraled out of control in rapid fashion and had to be institutionalized.

There are so many stories like this. God have mercy for what we have done.

I think about this guy all the time: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9841931/Home-Away-Dieter-Brummer-Shane-Parrish-dead-Covid-Sydney-lockdown.html

I kind of implied it in this article, but I write on the off-chance I might "influence the influencers."

Two of my biggest areas of research are "Early Spread" and the "Embalmers Clots." I know I'm not going to expose the conspiracy to conceal early spread or to bring wide-spread awareness to the embalmers' clots.

However, I've always thought its very possible my writing could influence the right public figure (or even mainstream journalist) who would then make investigations into these taboo topics "go viral."

So my real goal is to, hopefully, influence people who do matter.

Bill - you have helped me immensely in getting new subs. I feel certain that many people have shared my Substack.

We change minds one person at a time. I keep saying that even if people doubt these clots exist, they certainly won’t forget seeing them. That is enough to get them to be “vaccine hesitant”.

And that is the reason why shady stuff is happening. Tom Haviland keeps getting unsubscribed from my stack. It’s happened at least three times now. I think they are sending me a warning.

No matter. I’m not stopping.

And I know you won’t either.

God had chosen us for such a time as this. I’m grateful you are in this fight with me. 🙏🙏🙏

I just topped 1800 subs and 2700 followers.

I think your writing is enjoyable to read Bill. Whether you are hashing out something for the new Troy Citizen or you are highlighting Covid-19 ramifications, your style and content are refreshing change of pace. Keep up the good work!

Thanks, Jeffrey. Back at you. I still think "Ex Animo" is a breath of fresh air on Substack. As far as I know, nobody else is doing what you're doing.

Jeffrey has given me the confidence to even think of myself starting a Substack, as a Paralegal I think I’ve earned an orator/speaker award, drafting legal documents such as pleadings, briefs, letters, and discovery requests plus appearances at Tribunals and Courts gave me a lot of experience. It’s discovering topics that interest readers is the key to success. Both of you are doing something special and for that I wish you both success in 2025 :)

Your work is important, Bill. Keep it up!

Unfortunately, as you said, "important" doesn't always equate with recognition or money. I feel compelled to write too, and have done from the beginning of the pandemic, so it must matter even though my audience is much, much smaller than yours. I visualize my work as a small pebble thrown into a larger pond, with circles rippling out, and no real concept of how far they'll travel, or how they'll blend with the widening circles of others who are doing the same. Even so, one pebble does disturb the surface, and maybe has impact below the surface as well :)

Thank you, Lori. I wouldn't have gotten to know wonderful and inspiring citizens such as yourself if I hadn't ventured down the Road Less Travelled. I think our team is much more interesting and important. So I chose the right teammates!

P.S. I hope some of my subscribers also become your subscribers. For those who don't know, Lori is one of the Brownstone Institute's star writers. So your pebbles are making a pretty big ripple in that pond.

I write to explain, often to myself and sometimes to others. Sometimes the explanations are intended to educate, sometimes to change minds. Years ago I created my own website on which to publish my writings.

I do the same thing, California Girl. I usually write on topics that interest me and just hope others will be interested in the same topics.

Usually, you'll do a better job exploring a topic if it interests you.

You said :

(My state of Alabama has a population of five million people. It’s occurred to me that I’m perhaps the only person in our state who has written hundreds of stories trying to expose obvious lies. The fact I’m doing something the vast majority of the world’s population isn’t doing probably makes me feel somewhat special, which I guess is another reason I like my job.)

My opinion: People don’t have to write as they can also talk. People that don’t make the effort to make the planet better by exposing lies that hurt people by writing or just talking to others are not worthy of any respect. They’re just taking up space.

Let’s hope you aren’t gone for a very long time but your writings have already made you a warrior for the human race so I guess you can say you’ve done good.

As the President said to Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum at the end of Independence Day…not too bad not too bad at all.

Thanks, Joe. I wish I possessed great speaking or oratory skills, which is another way to influence many people. With writing, you can revise and revise until you produce an essay that is hopefully passable or decent. That's another reason I probably became a writer - I can work at it until I come close to expressing my thoughts cogently. I can't do that as an extemporaneous speaker.

Writing also forces one to do heavier thinking. You can't write a decent essay without your brain fully engaged. So writing is also "brain exercise."

Also, writing is simply the craft we use to try to communicate ideas or observations. The "heavy lifting" of the thinking is the most important part of the process.

I think deeper thoughts when I'm trying to construct an article.

"In fact, many members of society’s “best and brightest” classes seem to be either dim or masters at gaming the system or prospering in a system where concealing important truths is more important than exposing them."

This type of person I call "clever". It's a skill, just like being a conman. It doesn't mean they have a high intellect or common sense. The skill they possess is sensing what they see as an "opportunity", often translating into what benefits them at someone else's expense.

Thanks Bill. I genuinely laughed out loud in commiseration when I read this article.

I think about this a lot as well. I (and many others the past few years) have published articles that should have, quite literally, dissolved parliament, caused massive unrest, and landed perpetrators in prison, but nothing has happened. Children are being murdered by the state, and no one cares.

I write because these things bother me, and I know they bother other people as well. They gnaw away at me creating almost a physical and spiritual sickness. When I publish the articles, I send them out into the universe.

I tell my readers: I write so that you feel less alone. You are not alone because other people think and feel the same as you do, and I recognise the abuse that you suffered. I experienced the same thing.

In my Christmas message I talked about what I went through this year, which was the same as Dr Jackie Stone who recently took her own life: https://vicparkpetition.substack.com/p/morning-has-broken-like-the-first

I guess what I am trying to say is that I write with zero expectations because hopium kills, and every article exposes the framework of reality.

Thanks again and happy new year.

In reading your "meditation," one of the newspaper writers who came to mind was Gary Webb. And historically, Frederick Douglass, who had his own newspaper(s) around Rochester, New York.

But, other names that came up were authors of very influential books, such as John W. DeCamp - THE FRANKLIN COVER-UP; Robert Stinnett - DAY OF DECEIT; and many others.

So - may I suggest you consider writing a book? This might be your great achievement.
