I just canceled my WP subscription for the outrageous attack on the Trump MSG rally as a Nazi party Hitler rally.

Did you read the Esquire hit job on the same topic. I cross-posted a Jenna McCarthy Substack on that this morning. All MSM journalists got the same meme.

How unusual!🙄

Of course they did.

Just like the talking heads on the idiot box, they all get the narrative of the day.

IF I still had a WaPo sub, that'd be #metoo. (!)

30 years ago, Sundays were fun days with crosswords.

Ah, the good ol' days.

NYT Crossword 40 years ago...but same sentiment.

Indeed.

Lived in NY in 60s & 70s, NYT Sunday was ubiquitous.

One brilliant prank my father played on a rival frenemy neighbor:

He snuck around the corner to "borrow" the Frenemy's precious NYT Sunday paper. Dad opened it, PENNED gibberish in the crossword boxes, ironed the creases smoothly back into place and replaced the precious plastic-wrapped package back on the neighbor's stoop, all before breakfast.

The frenemy guessed almost immediately, bellowing loud enough for the whole neighborhood my father's name combined rightly with "You Asshole!!"

Just?

I don't know and haven't looked at this but more likely the 1939 rally was to keep the U.S. out of the war. Was the rally after Sept 1, 1939? There may have been some sympathy for the Axis just like there was sympathy for the USSR.

No. There were real Nazis.

There were too many misguided politicians, business tycoons and anti-communists searching for the means to control the trajectory of wealth and economic recovery after WW1.

History is ugly.

How many Amazon workers slaving away in Bezos's giant warehouses care what the Post says about anything?

it just means CIA is throwing Dems/Harris campaign under the bus.

'cause they have a Plan B?

It is interesting. We don't have the full story of why Bezos ordered this. It would take a real newspaper to give us that reason.

WaPo has lost $73M in the past two years, I think I’ve read…

I would wager that more than 90% of the subscribers to the WaPo would vote for Kamala with or without the editorial page's endorsement. Therefore, the failure to endorse cancellations are hilarious.

I'd up that estimate to 99.9 percent.

Wish you were Bill . And another Giant tell that should get more people's attention while spinning out of control , are those surefooted wiley coyote types patiently waiting for everything to collapse as they redesign the world . Pretty sure the joyful Kamala and her trusted ear piece couldn't stand up to any of these guys .

They’re just having a temper tantrum which is befitting since they act like petulant, spoiled children whenever they don’t get their way.

Tells me the left is comfortably used to dictating to our media...and haven't we all seen it?

I have to say this crude observation, apropos of nothing:

Bezos' business logo resembles Peyronie's disease.

And that certainly can cause a dying in the darkness problem.

Yes. I would (eat a bug)!

And the old expression, "Gag me with a spoon" would be that silver spoon by which those stupid WaPo writers are fed the lies to 'report.' Notice I didn't refer to the WaPo as journalism.

And that's a fact.

I like better the image of gagging on a computer mouse, Bill. Thx for your tidy wrap.

I start off writing the cliche ... and then I say, "that's a cliche, Bill" and I change them. I looked to my right and there was my mouse.

The subscription cancellations are performance art by people with severe TDS.

The "tell" is real simple in this case Bill. The Democratic candidate is weak and vulnerable, has not put forth a single original idea to make the country better, and will most likely lose if the "team" doesn't stick together with the "second coming" narrative.

Bill, in your "dead tree media" days, you guys gave the occasional endorsement to political candidates, right? did that have any effect on subs one way or another? i'm guessing no...

Bezos bought the paper for $250 million, and lost $77 million last year. Maybe he decided they should read from all walks of life, including the garbage?

Expand full comment

He must have known he would lose tons of money by owning and operating a newspaper, but he bought it anyway. That's very interesting isn't it?
