Thank you. Jack did great. Everyone involved should take a bow and they deserve the standing ovations they received. I really am glad that Jack got the opportunity to participate in something this grand. There's many would-be Winthrops who didn't get this opportunity for two years.
There's many would-be Winthrops who also didn't know if they'd ever get that opportunity. imagine being, say, 9 and not knowing if you'd ever play football or little league again. we're going to be dealing with the mental health fallout from the plandemic for literally decades
Like a snake-oil traveling salesman, Deborah Birx went "from town to town convincing citizens [well, politicians anyway] they’ve got trouble (with a capital T) in their towns, trouble [s]he can cure."
Hussein and Gaddafi were Trouble only because Especially Gaddafi bucked the Greedy Multinational and the Banking System so Naturally that killed them and bombed Libya back to the Stone Age .
In my research, I gathered that this is a very popular show for school and college theater groups. This is the 4th time it's been performed by Troy University in the last three or four decades. This performance was different because the symphony orchestra (53 members) was so big.
The four men who played the School Board Barbershop Quartet need to go on tour - they are that good.
We loved reading this and seeing your son dressed up as a perfect Winthrop!
We were part of our small town "big" community theatre when we were "townspeople" in The Music Man and two of our sons had great fun as stagehands.
My husband and have talked plenty about the parallels of the last 5 + years and The Music Man - the snake oil and the con(s).....
And while we're talking he'll break into Traveling Salesman rap on the train, "Whadya tawk, whadya tawk, he's a fake and he doesn't know the territory!"
These great songs have been playing in a loop in my head for weeks!
I'm a movie buff, but for some reason I'd never seen "The Music Man" until Jack got the part of Winthrop. It's like a great album. Your favorite songs change over time.
Thanks for explaining the plot of the Music Man, not having much interest in musicals, I didn't know that. The important point is fear or some other emotion sells. Fear of death is the most effective. A great lesson that needs to be repeated often.
Russia, Russia, Russia and the plandemic are great examples. The lizards won't ever stop this form of manipulation.
Bill, great analogy. For ten years prior to covid the pharma/dod dual use convergence industry (that per RFK's book) had been trying desperately to find a way to sell the potential trillion dollar mRNA technology but those darn pesky critter tests kept getting in the way--the lab animals all died as a result of being injected. Well then, create another China pandemic with faked, leaked trauma inducing scenes from China spraying down its cities along with 24/7 cremation CO2 plumes, and super spreader events in 3 cities and viola, we have perfect storm of River City Trouble. The question in my mind still is who are the real bad actors in this script?
We still don't have the answers to this Great Mystery, Arnold. If we get them, they'll come from "citizen journalists" not the REAL "watchdog" journalists. But even if some brilliant sleuths on Substack connect all the dots and give us an answer, this answer won't reach hardly anyone.
I have a feeling that most of the people on the take are allowed to stay in the gravy boat as long as they do not rock it. In total there are probably comparatively few at the very top who set direction. I typically refer people to the Forbes Global 500 headquarters MAP to see the rough arrangement of the three global teams participating in the great game of take as much as you can.
North America, EU, BRICS are the three teams and can be easily discerned from the map.
I believe the only rule is "Do what you like as long as you do not get caught."
This is a brilliant analogy. I actually performed "Trouble" at an Open Mike that was hampered, and soon to fall apart -- due to the plandemic. And never saw the connection!
Music Man has so many great songs of different styles. Fun fact:. "Trouble" and the opening song on the train, were the earliest rap music.
Thanks Bill, been trying to think of a good old move to watch or re-watch. I agree with you, not the rosy optimists who are saying "we won't get fooled again". It is a silver lining of COVID the true nature of our institutions is seen by more people. But not nearly enough.
Right after our gym re-opened I had a brief discussion with the manager, a very nice "girl" about 30, and a really good manager who knew her business inside and out. I mentioned how I didn't feel so bad about seniors like myself, or even most people her age. Once you hit late twenties or so, each year is still precious, but just another year. For the kids, each year is crucial and irreplaceable. So it was the kids who suffered. She'd never even thought of such a thing. As JM put it, "people are strange". Can seem so smart and squared away, but not have a clue.
The show (a movie) that seems the closest to what we’ve been through is Wag the Dog. The premise was much different but somehow the song remains the same. The average Joe or Karen will believe any concocted story no matter how far fetched if they watch it on the evening news.
Did you see my column "Movies for our New Abnormal Times?" I listed about 17 movies, but I left off "Wag the Dog." That film definitely needs to be on this list.
Congratulations to you and your boy, Bill. You must be a very proud father.

we’ve got double trouble, which starts with T, that rhymes with D and C … that stands for Government.
and the river is the Potomac...
Like a snake-oil traveling salesman, Deborah Birx went "from town to town convincing citizens [well, politicians anyway] they’ve got trouble (with a capital T) in their towns, trouble [s]he can cure."
That is exactly what she did.
She "selflessly" drove to all Indian Country to personally deliver the potentially dangerous, possibly deadly injections.
What a saint.
“ However, it occurs to me that for two years such transformative experiences were not possible for any American child.”
Stealing their youth. This crime ranks right up there among the top crimes against humanity committed during the scamdemic.
Hussein and Gaddafi were Trouble only because Especially Gaddafi bucked the Greedy Multinational and the Banking System so Naturally that killed them and bombed Libya back to the Stone Age .
Wasn't he "pro-gold?" That means he was a "gold bug" ... and those bugs are Trouble with a Capital T!
Yes, one problem after another.
Music Man is such a great show, especially as a school production. Glad to hear your son had such a great role.
My girls were members of the “boy band” when our school put on a fantastic run of this classic.
The "boy's band" became a "kids band" in this updated version.
We loved reading this and seeing your son dressed up as a perfect Winthrop!

Yes, great lessons and analogies. Fear mongering will always be around this side of heaven. That’s why discernment is our best defense against it.
At least trouble Trump is now delivering some much needed medicine set to cure something soon. Con grads to your Son, and the show.

The "truth" doesn't sell.
No, but it spreads - truth spreads, once it gets out.
It's just never fast enough for me.

This nails it, Kalle:
"I have a feeling that most of the people on the take are allowed to stay in the gravy boat as long as they do not rock it."
That's my - strong - feeling too.
Love the Music Man!! Lots of parallels to DC life.
Pick a little talk a little
Pick a little talk a little
Cheep cheep cheep...
Especially the Good Night Ladies/Pick a Little number:

That's one of my favorite numbers in the musical!
This is a brilliant analogy. I actually performed "Trouble" at an Open Mike that was hampered, and soon to fall apart -- due to the plandemic. And never saw the connection!

I think you are right, Alan. That was early rap!
