From the Mises Institute web page, I learned this about the author of this essay …
"William L. Anderson is Senior Editor at the Mises Institute and retired professor of economics at Frostburg State University. He earned his MA in economics from Clemson University and his PhD in economics from Auburn University, where he was a Mises Research Fellow. He has been writing about Austrian economics since 1981, when he first was introduced to the Austrian view by the late William H. Peterson. He is also a frequent contributor to LewRockwell.com."
WHAT IS THE MISES INSTITUTE?
"The Mises Institute is a non-profit organization that exists to promote teaching and research in the Austrian School of economics, individual freedom, honest history, and international peace, in the tradition of Ludwig von Mises and Murray N. Rothbard.
"Non-political, non-partisan, and non-PC, we advocate a radical shift in the intellectual climate, away from statism and toward a private property order. We believe that our foundational ideas are of permanent value, and oppose all efforts at compromise, sellout, and amalgamation of these ideas with fashionable political, cultural, and social doctrines inimical to their spirit.
"Founded in 1982 by Llewellyn H. Rockwell, Jr., with the blessing and aid of Margit von Mises, Murray N. Rothbard, Henry Hazlitt, and Ron Paul, the Institute seeks a free-market capitalist economy and a private-property order that rejects taxation, monetary debasement, and a coercive state monopoly of protective services.
"... Llewellyn H. Rockwell, Jr., served as Mises’s editorial assistant at Arlington House Publishers ..."
… Scholars and supporters alike are welcome to visit our campus in Auburn, Alabama, located 90 minutes south of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the busiest airport in the world.
In 1998, thanks to generous supporters, the Mises Institute built a campus at 518 West Magnolia Avenue in Auburn that houses an extensive and unique library in the social sciences. "

I recently learned that Jeffrey Tucker, the founder of The Brownstone Institute, worked in Auburn at the Mises Institute for many years ... Jeffrey lived two hours from me and I didn’t even know it!
I’m not sure of the back story, but Jeffrey went on to create what’s quickly become one of the most influential “think tanks” - or writer communities in the world. Today the Brownstone Institute - started only about five years ago - challenges and debunks the many lies and/or dubious claims emanating from the captured MSM establishment.
For those who believe in giving to worthy organizations, a gift to Brownstone is a gift that counters the claptrap produced by influential writers like Paul Krugman and the writers of the New York Times.
I've been to the Mises Institute. They used to and might still host a 1 day Economics forum primarily geared toward homeschool parents and 'high school' aged students. You should look into it - I think it's free. The day I went to the one day forum, Jeffrey Tucker was a speaker. So I've followed Jeffrey on twitter for >10 years, bought his book "Bourbon for Breakfast" and knew exactly who he was when he sponsored the meeting of the minds which became "The Great Barrington Declaration". In 2016, Tucker absolutely despised Trump and thought he would govern like a "wannabe dictator".
This is actually worse than the alien invasion nonsense Bill, Paul actually put out this headline on one of his ludicrous articles earlier this year:
“Should Biden Downplay His Own Success?“
I can’t even begin to guess at how nutty and unhinged the words under that headline were, but I’d rather waltz naked through the fires of hell than read them.
I think he was elected U.S. senator when he was 29. Before that I think he was a Deleware prosecutor ... so he's never had a job as an adult in private industry - just like Bill Clinton.
He's definitely not going to get one after he leaves the White House. Who would hire such an addled person? (Actually, plenty of people and boards no doubt will ... Sigh.)
Yes. They will prop him up in a cushy chair around a gigantic table made from trees that no longer exist in the wild. Then he will tip over the Waterford glass tumbler into some wannabe oligarch’s bespoke trousers. Then a captain of industry will whisper in his ear, not too close because Biden has a peculiar odor, that the ice cream cart is right outside the door. He will go out the wrong door, winking at the admin assistant helping him.
Yep, that might have been accidental "click bait" in the headline verbiage. In fact, Mr. Krugman is still with us ... But he is gone from the NY Times, which is good ... although I'm sure the editors will bring him back as needed.
... And his replacement will write the same "trope" his successor did.
This week the internet is awash in rationalizations for the assassination of Brian Thompson that reference the ostensible harm he's personally responsible for. If such logic were consistently applied, what left-wing figurehead would live?
a few years ago when Trump was in office, a local dentist was angry and moved to Australia. I always wondered what happened and if he still thinks that was a good choice. He was one of those who believed in root canals and all the rest.
“Paul Krugman can retire peacefully, knowing that he has sanitized the use of raw state power in place of mutually-beneficial exchange that characterizes the marketplace"
I was always leery of his unbridled lack of skeptical thinking. Always so cocksure of his own prognoses, too sure to be credible.
I was very anti-Bush II and did read Krugman and believed his nonsense in the 2000’s. I thank God for having the intelligence and wisdom to finally figure out he was always wrong. He is also a pedo as porn images of same were found on his hard drive. He claims he was hacked. He is a complete loser scumbag.
Paul Krugman was a brilliant economist burdened with a marxist worldview. As time passed, his worldview overwhelmed his economic genius and he became just another angry left-wing columnist interchangeable with many others.
I've read or heard many times that Krugman is/was "a brilliant economist." I took Econ 1 and 2 at the University of Alabama and made one A and one almost-A in those courses. I think I'm a more brilliant economist than Mr. Krugman.
Great piece Bill. I guess I would be correct in assuming that Krugman's leaving must have been spurred by a Trump victory as much as the For Sale sign that now hangs on MSNBC.
Please please let it be sold to the Home Shopping Network. That harridan Joy Reid selling underwear is all I believe she is capable of. (No offense to honest undergarment sales people). Maddow—If Elon buys it, reserve a seat to Mars for her.
And just who the fuck are you and other than being a stupid Insane Clown cult follower what the fuck is your claim to fame exactly? Like all Insne Clown cult followers you think drill baby drill and we will all become as rich as a Saudi prince and tax cuts pay for themselves and tariffs are paid by the tariffee don't you.

Gosh. Thanks for adding that. I'm sure we could all find insanity in every Krugman column he and the NY Times ever published.
Biden definitely got richer, so where's the lie!!1??11

they all do. Being a parasite who has never held a job outside of politics and government is a very good business.
Haha, good one
That headline alone is a membership card for the Lunacy Left...
From your title I thought he was dead lol.
This guy and his bs has been allowed to destroy nations. How much more of this will we tolerate?

Guest op eds. He won’t be able to stay away completely. 🤮

I thought that too. I’m sure he is all jabbed up. What’s taking him so long?
Hooray! Now if only a whole lot more liberals would retire or even leave the country……
Please, no. They always come to Australia for some reason.
(Then they experience the tyranny and leave which is hilarious).
a few years ago when Trump was in office, a local dentist was angry and moved to Australia. I always wondered what happened and if he still thinks that was a good choice. He was one of those who believed in root canals and all the rest.
You know, a whole bevy of snowflake folks vowed, both on camera and print, to exit the US should Trump win…I’m still waiting on that exodus!!
You forgot the 'il' prefix.

Krugman famously stated when asked when markets would recover from the 2016 Trump election..”maybe never.”
We did the best ever during those 4 years investment wise.
But we elected Biden and got unprecedented growth validated by the stock markets.
Bummer....no we have lost our weather vain as what not to do...The man could not find his ass (or a clue) with both hands. Pax
I’m sure he’ll be on the internet somewhere making ridiculous comments.
Bah, bah, bye 👋

You are a Dunning Kreuger poster boy.
Walter Kirn's takes and commentaries about the current state of the nation are the very best to be found. He's been absolutely golden. 👏👏👏
