what we all need to do to maskers is constantly say "What? WHAT??? WHAT??!?!?!! I can't hear you."

Expand full comment

I never realized just how much I’ve been reading lips until the masks. I teach high school and those teens mumble, man! It’s so hard to understand them and that makes them testy.

Expand full comment

I do that because I really can’t figure out what they’re saying!! I’m not rude about it, and usually I just drop it, or I’ll find someone else to ask. Have y’all seen that the Japanese are offering smiling classes because so many wore the mask and for so long and now that they are dropping them, they need help to I guess be real again. I’m sure there’s a fascinating statement there on life in Covid land.

On a different stack, I was reading the comments, and this one guy still believes polio is a thing. That it is not caused by the polio vaccine or other poisons.

No idea has much of it is misattributed (conflated with lead arsenate, DDT, etc. poisoning), but I heard of a man getting polio from changing an "immunized" grandchild's diaper.

Key word, "immunized."

Attenuated viruses can shed. (Only form of shedding Wicked Pedophilia recognizes.) At least such vaccines don't need adjuvants, as they do it themselves. If they're gonna give multiple vaccines at once, they should formulate them with no adjuvants, but be sure one is a live virus. (And warn people about who should change diapers, and not take the children to Disneyland for 3 weeks.)

True - best go to a Wal-mart for that.

Welcome back! (Also most bookstores are woke and terrible).

Wal-Mart actually sells books too. What if this company had stocked this book and hundreds of millions of people could at lest look at the book title when they strolled the aisles?

I still imagine most people don't even know the book exists and was published.

I spent a great deal of my miss spent youth begging my mom for early allowance $$, saving babysitting $$ and crawling the shelves of the book stores and book sections of every store I walked into in my hometown. Much like my loss of the newspaper, I truly miss the adventure of slogging through book sleeves or backs trying to decide on my next read. Thank God my mom was as bad as I am because I was able to read all her books too--also miss spent my youth reading books FAR beyond my full understanding but loving them anyway. Was reading Stephen King (who's politics I now find horrifying) books at 8 or 9 and wondering why I couldn't sleep at 4am (which is when I finished reading whichever one it was). So grateful now for Audible so that I can be reading pretty much all the time. It's crack for book nerds.

I was probably 11 when I read my first King book and I read at least one every year for 15 years. He pretty much blamed the government for the plague in The Stand, but not Covid. Another author who tells us, "Do what The Man says!"

I got in a little hot water for reading "IT" during (8th grade?) reading time. The teacher told me the book was "inappropriate for school". I told him that "reading at school" is a tiny fraction of my reading time and that I wasn't going to stop reading "my" books just because he didn't like them.

He must have put two and two together (I've always had barely-on-the-charts reading scores), because he left me alone after that.

The irony was not lost on me either. The Stand was one of my favorite books as a teenager/young adult, I’ve read it many times and he now disregards its every lesson. He was my favorite author for years but then I discovered sci fi (which my mom still won’t read--this saddens me as a reader because there is a treasure trove of speculative and magical fiction in this genre that far exceeds anything King ever wrote). What kills me is that technically some of his works falls into this category but she still refuses to even try. 🤷‍♀️

I was the same way as a kid. My parents got me a set of Art Linkletter's Encyclopedias for Kids when I was 6. I immediately started reading Vol. I, and read all of them within a very short period of time. I was in hog heaven with joy and I've been an avid reader ever since - I'll be 70 next year, books have been my best friend. This article has inspired me to think about opening a book store and stocking it with all kinds of rare books and controversial books - first purchase would be "The Real Anthony Fauci."

I wonder if it's in any book store. I guess all - or almost all - of its sales have been on-line. The key take-away is that millions of book browsers don't see it on the book shelves. It also became a run-away best-seller despite the fact no mainstream news organization reviewed the book.

Maybe the people CAN rise up and shake things up. I only bought the book for me and my mother, same with Dowd’s book. Maybe there’s someone else I can buy the book for.

In my book review (picked up by Citizen Free Press), I called the book potentially the most-important book of our times. I still believe that. Important books make you change the way you think about something that is very important. It would have been more important if more people had the chance to see it and buy it.

With him running for president, we have another chance to give some more books out. I’m thinking of who do I know that’s open to reading Kennedy’s book?

The book has been out for at least 18 months, but it does seem like Kennedy's recent decision to run for president would have been the perfect opportunity to promote the book even more.

It's already been proven that millions of people will buy the book. Book store owners don't want to sell more books? I guess not.

Because they're still afraid of Covid. I live in NM and over 1/3 of the people still wear them! The propaganda was really effective here. (We also have more than our fair share of stupid people). Part of it is our governor was absolute terrified she'd get Covid. She cancelled the mandate right after the NM legislature ended last year because it was making her look bad.

My contribution to books written by awful famous people (ghost writers)? Turning all of the copies in Barnes & Noble so nobody has to see things like Obama or Hillary's photo on book jackets.

Yes, we all need to start visiting every book store we can and ask them if they have the book when we walk in. When they say NO, haven't heard of it, we can say with much shock and amazement, "You don't have RFK Jr's book and he's running for president??!? I'm shocked, SHOCKED I tell you, why, everyone's reading it" or some such. Then leave the store while their faces are still slack-jawed.

The answer to this is for all conservatives to refuse to spend one cent in any stores/businesses that are openly opposed to their values, that openly disparage them and their views, or who openly display hostile behavior or attitudes. There are plenty of other places to spend our money and supporting non-woke or neutral businesses makes sense.

And yes, I’ve walked out of many stores where their political views or social views were either obvious when entering or who’s employees made it clear where they stood on matters. Letting them know why I leave feels quite good.

I am the administrator of an office here in Sun City, AZ called West Valley Republicans. It really should be called West Valley Conservatives but I had no input on choosing the name. We were unfunded by the GOP for being too conservative; hence my desire for a name change. We are completely self-funded now by donations only so no need to keep their moniker over our doorway.

I keep a running list of local “Conservative friendly” businesses at the office. We advertise them in our monthly bulletin, invite them to speak at our meetings and keep their business cards in our office. It’s important that while we avoid the “unfriendlies” we support and promote those who support us.

Naomi Wolf wrote a Substack piece about going back to her former intellectual haunt of Brooklyn. As a writer/journalist like Bill Rice, Jr. she went into several independent bookstores (her old haunts of dissident and independent thinkers) and was quite taken aback at the lack of books discussing the Pandemic and the last 3 years in America - no book questioning anything that happened was in any of these stores. Loved the interviews, Bill. 😆 Not insinuating that the masqueraded clerk was angry, but isn’t it funny sometimes how mad they get when you question why they’re wearing that thing on their face? LOL! Thanks for saying that. Finally, very late in life, I realized how so many anecdotes and stories I've read over the years, related as if the writer actually experienced them, are completely made up. After all, they're professional writers, have to sell content, and the more interesting the content, the better it sells. As an outdoorsman, I read a lot of hunting and fishing articles. Now older and wiser, I bet 90% of the "personal experiences" related are entirely fictional or grossly embellished. I can't believe I was so naive for so long. And I've always been a very untrusting person. No wonder the average joe lives in a state of being constantly duped.

Hi Bill, sounds like a nice vacay!

Re toll roads, if Alabama has any, we’ve got you beat in the Southwest & most of the West (coast probably excluded) because there are “0” toll roads from Idaho to New Mexico 😊

As for liberal bookstores, Sundog is not alone. Liberal cities & towns like Santa Fe, Tucson, Durango are going to cater to the majority populations. The independent book store owners will be true believer liberals in all things covid, “green” & every other next big thing. Fellow travelers like librarians are another huge block of liberal, book-banning ass hats & I can say that because my husband was virtually a lone voice of conservative sanity in that profession. The book store owners ban because they can. And most that I know don’t just not carry conservative books; they very prominently display mindless crap from the likes of Michelle Obama & all the rest.

I had to request my county library system purchase Turtles. Approved, apparently 3 copies, but all got checked out despite my hold. I was pleasantly surprised to see the system has 25 copies of TRAF. I had not requested that, so none are assigned to my local branch. Perhaps I should call independent bookstores around here to see if they carry those books.

And I thought Utah had a couple toll roads. (One is a HOV lane, so the toll only applies to lone drivers.)

"in our New Normal times, not selling the book poses zero book-store risk"

And there's the problem. Bad people speak up and take action, good people go along, even financially support businesses that spit in their faces. Finally, Anheiser Busch and Fox News are paying a price, we'll see if it holds. I hope to God it does, or we are done for sure. Unbelievable that Donald Trump Jr, who seemed OK to me before, came out against a boycott. What a loser. Much to my dismay, I find myself involuntarily moving toward the position of the WEF and their ilk that the masses deserve to be led around by the nose and taken advantage of. After all, the last three years show they're fine with it, even side with their abusers and viciously attack those who oppose the evil ones. I'm hoping something changes my mind but history says it won't happen.

Agree with you re: Donald Trump Jr. I never thought of him as a mental giant but was surprised by his lack of support for boycott.

You found a curious observation about the RFK Jr book, but didn't ask the question and continued the article with assumptions. First, this is not journalism, this is just guessing what might be the reason. Second this is self censoring. A thing that our 'puppet masters' have succeeded in doing on a global scale. You had the opportunity to find out more and you didn't.

"Why don't you stock the #1 best selling book world wide?" would have been an easy question. Perhaps the clerk didn't do the stocking, but that answer is important. Anyone running a bookstore and ordering books is aware of the best seller list. There was a reason why this book wasn't ordered and that is where the story is. You can still save yourself and write another article by calling the store and asking them. Did a store funding source demand it not be stocked? Was the store owner intent on censorship of their customers? Are there other books that met this criteria?

Bad publicity (your article) for the store can change the world for the better in one little way. Which side are you on?
